Still Hate My Computer, But Linux is Cool

Messing around with Linux still. But again, my PC locks up.  This time I’m removing my sound card, putting my wireless card back in to see if it was the sound card.  At this point, I think it may be time to buy a new PC.  I’ve gotten about 8-9 years out of it, replaced the motherboard once, installed a lot of RAM, upgraded hard drive, sound card, video card. Still runs ok, but the random lock ups are a pain in the butt.

In happier news, I just finished “Ubuntu for Non-Geeks – 3rd Edition” by Rickford Grant.  For me, a geek, i was a little weary of the title.  But it’s really a great read for anyone interested in Linux, but has always been in a Windows platform.  Gives step by step instructions for getting started with internet settings, video card stuff (install EnvyNG), sound stuff, word processing, all that good stuff.  Linux really does have it all, even Windows programs under WINE (which, i love.  I’m a PHP programmer, so I love the recursive acronym Wine is Not a Emulator).  Plus it includes an Ubuntu installation disk.  Have I written about this before? Who cares, it deserves a second write up :)

Now to get NWN2 running under Linux!
